Purpose: At the heart of it, I'm a writer. I've got some stories I want to tell using Danny Chase, and I want to get a better handle on the character. Also I have fun with roleplaying and like bouncing ideas off people.

(Also -- give me any kind of sad situation, such as a child being trained by the government spy agency that both his parents work for, and I'll make it worse. Because angst is what I do. This is the "worse", but it's not hard to be nicer to characters than DC Comics is... so he'll get better. Eventually.)

[[In Character]]

Name: Daniel "Danny" Whitney Chase

Codename(s): Chariot, Phantasm, Agent Chase

Age: 24
(Yeah, there's probably a death certificate filed away somewhere that says he died around age 16 -- but death is cheap and meaningless when you have superpowers. And, as his friend Jason Todd could attest, sometimes death is cheap and meaningless even when you don't.)

Family History: Franklin Chase was an American scientist working on The Manhattan Project. In the course of such work, he was exposed to radiation and his metagene was "switched on". He later had two sons, John Chase and Walter Chase. Walter Chase was leader of the Justice Experience, a vigilante superhero group that operated in the late 1960s and early 1970s, as the original Justice Society of America went into retirement. Walter Chase had two daughters -- Cameron and Terry (Teresa) -- before he and his team were killed by a supervillain. Cameron Chase exhibits metahuman powers as well -- psychokinesis and a "negation field" that cancels out the superpowers of others within her 'sphere of influence'.

While John Chase did not exhibit any metahuman abilities of his own, his son Daniel displayed telekinetic powers at a very young age. John Chase and his wife Cherie, both very talented and in-demand spies for the Central Bureau of Intelligence, entrusted the training of their son to the government agency that they worked for. Danny was trained as a spy in addition to learning how to control his telekinetic abilities, despite the fact that he was... oh, about six years old.

Abilities:
Telekinesis - exerting control over physical bodies by force of will, Danny is able to move and manipulate things within his environment simply by thinking. Items of larger mass or volume can be difficult to move, as complex items can be difficult to manipulate if he has no base knowledge of how they work.

Espionage - Danny was trained from a young age to hone his skills in intelligence, counter-intelligence, surveillance and investigation.

High Intellect - Danny is intelligent, grasping technical concepts with ease and recalling information with a high degree of detail.

Limitations:
Trauma - While growing up, Danny was exposed to dangerous and unethical training methods within the Central Bureau of Intelligence. His status as a child was largely ignored and he was treated as any other recruit or trainee despite his age. Even when he was trained with other metahuman children within the CBI, there was little oversight to minimize the types of harm done to (or by) any of them.

Difficulty Reading Social Cues - Especially as a teenager, Danny had difficulty reading social cues and understanding what are considered acceptable ways to act. He is getting better through experience, but it still doesn't come easily. His behavior is often read as arrogant and brash, both because he lacks "normal" socialization due to his upbringing and because some facets of body language and expression just slip by him.

Sensory Processing Issues - Danny did not get diagnosed with autism until he was much older, around age twenty. He's more affected by the environment around him -- sounds, sensations, and other sensory input can have a greater effect on him than upon neurotypical people. He can be more emotionally reactive to stimuli as well, and become overwhelmed and tired more easily when he can't retreat to a less stimulating environment.

Dissociation - As a coping mechanism for the high-stress experience of being part of the Phantasm gestalt, Danny will sometimes experience a disconnect from his own thoughts, emotions, or sense of identity.
--> He was assumed to be killed in action when stopping "The Souls of Azarath" from crossing over from the Azarath dimension to Earth and taking on host bodies. However, he and Angela "Arella" Roth remained behind when the Teen Titans retreated, and their souls eventually manifested on Earth along with the souls of Azarath in the bodiless form of the Phantasm.

Current Status: Danny Chase is an active agent with the Central Bureau of Intelligence. He works in an intelligence-gathering capacity, though he is sometimes deployed to help clear the scene after a supervillain is apprehended, or to neutralize threats.
